Sticking with
Discworld, on to one of the earlier books of the series, Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett.
When a Fairy
Godmother leaves her wand to Magrat Garlick, she has a job for Magrat to
perform -- make sure Ella does not marry the prince. She knows that Granny Wetherwax and Nanny Ogg
must travel with Magrat -- so uses reverse psychology to ensure they go. In the note attached to the wand, she writes
to be sure those two DO NOT go with Magrat.
Once Granny sees this, she is determined they will go with Magrat.
And the Discworld
may never recover from Granny or Nanny ...
