This book number was full of false starts.
YIKES!
First, I turned on A Man Lay Dead by Ngaio Marsh but had
hardly gotten into the first few minutes when I stopped it and decided to try
something else.
Next, since it is
part of the Nursery Crime novel, The Big
Over Easy, and I had never read it, I decided Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray should find
its way into my reading list. This
seemed like a good time to do just that.
The version I have is a nine hour novel and I actually got three hours
and nine minutes into it before I gave up and said "THIS IS BORING"
and went in search of something "better" (or more suitable to my
mood, I guess) ...
I ended up back with
Discworld's Eric by Terry
Pratchett. Rincewind escorts a teen-aged
demonologist who demands three wishes -- the rule the world, the meet the most
beautiful woman and to live forever ...
